Dr. Ricky Huggins D Min; M Ed; LADC-MH; LPC has experience with many behavioral health areas of interest including theological meaning making; trauma, family of origin, faith, cultural and other co occurring issues such as substance use disorder.
Early life experience includes blue collar labor and middle management work during undergraduate and graduate studies. After earning two of his three graduate degrees Ricky spent about twenty years serving as pastor and counselor as an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church from the early 1990’s until his 2011 transition into university teaching, therapy and private practice counseling.
Your Best Journey was founded as a 501c3 organization in 2012, aimed at helping the underserved move from brokenness toward restoration. Since 2019 Ricky works as an LPC at the intersection of mental health values clarification and faith based meaning making as an Elder in the new emerging Wesleyan Global Methodist movement birthed in 2022.
